About
Investment research is abundant online, but it is often highly fragmented. Most services focus on a single domain—such as the global macro analysis, sector or company specific equity analysis, or price action analysis (technical analysis and options strategies) without considering how these areas influence one another. In our experience, a comprehensive approach to portfolio management that combines macro research, fundamental equity research and trading research is the best way to maximize performance because these domains are all deeply interconnected and the utility of each style varies depending upon the market environment.
Top performing global macro investors focus on geopolitical issues, economic data, and the actions of policy makers and tend to outperform during bear markets. High quality global macro research can help investors understand when the conditions are ripe for a market downturn and adjust their risk accordingly.
Top performing fundamental equity investors focus on secular trends and individual businesses and tend to outperform during bull markets. High quality fundamental equity research can help investors identify the businesses that are most likely to benefit from upcoming secular trends. The best fundamental equity investment opportunities typically occur after a market downturn.
Top performing traders (including quants) focus on price action and data analysis and their performance tends to be uncorrelated with market direction. Price action research can help investors confirm the degree to which chart patterns are lining up with their fundamental view and identify actionable trading opportunities when fundamental investment opportunities are scarce.
Our research is delivered via email and posted on the members section of this site in the following format…
At the beginning of each week, we issue a report titled “Macro Research: The Inside of the Market” that combines global macro analysis with technical analysis to provide a broad overview of recent news and noteworthy trends in asset prices. The purpose of this report is to provide consistent updates on new developments in the global economy and to provide insight into the effect these developments are having on chart patterns across a variety of asset classes. We review roughly 4,000 charts including currencies, commodities, stocks and bonds and highlight (typically around 200) assets that are setting up to breakout or breakdown.
During each week, we issue one or two trading reports that review the fundamental drivers behind an asset from our weekly list that is setting up for a breakout or breakdown.
During the week, we issue actionable short term trading ideas and fundamental investment ideas.
Our trading ideas are drawn from the list of chart patterns in our weekly global macro reports. These reports, titled “Trading Research”, review the technicals, basic fundamentals and potential catalysts behind one particular company or asset that appears to be on the cusp of a breakout or breakdown.
Our fundamental research reports, titled “Fundamental Research”, include a more in depth analysis into companies that are potentially suitable for longer term investments. We typically source these ideas from the quarterly 13F filings of successful fundamental investment managers.
Free examples of these reports are available under the “research” tab.
